Why SAT e-Tutor Actually Works

I developed this SAT e-Tutor to help my second child excel on the SAT. She took the PSAT last year and did not perform as well as her brother had. That's totally normal and I try not to make comparisons among my 3 kids, but this second child clearly could use some help to ace the verbal part of the SAT. Her PSAT score was fine, but in our family, we like to score in the top percentiles; we're kind of competitive like that.

Her brother had a huge advantage. He's been reading several books a week since he was in second grade. In fact in second grade he got a copy of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (unabridged) as a birthday present. By the next day he had finished. Not bad for an 8 year old. But that's rare.

You can buy a prep book or take a course; I highly recommend both. But to get vocabulary down, you either need to read or study a lot of words. Not many students have time for that.

With SAT e-Tutor, you get 2 SAT words each day (Monday - Friday) with SHORT definitions. You also get a pronunciation hint, without all that confusing phonetic symbology. I tell you what the word sounds like or what it rhymes with.

Then you get 2 sentences using these words. Sentences that are contemporary and relevant to today's culture.

On top of that, you get 2 exercises to use these words. By doing these easy exercises right away, your brain creates that neural pathway to help you remember the word when you need it.

For optimal use of the program, I add a parent to the SAT e-Tutor list so the parent can casually refer to the word in daily conversation. Practicing new vocabulary helps everyone in the family.
